Several media reports stated that the deal for Prince Alwaleed bin Talal’s acquisition of Al Hilal Club has entered its final stages, with the official announcement of its completion being made before the end of this December, in an unprecedented historic step in Saudi sports.

According to what the same sources reported, the value of the deal will amount to about 7.5 billion Saudi riyals, most of which will be paid to the Public Investment Fund, which currently owns 75% of the club’s shares, while the remaining part will go to the Ministry of Sports.

Muhammad Al-Deayeh said in television statements: “Prince Al-Waleed bin Talal has been the main supporter of Al-Hilal Club for a long time, and he is the one who brought me to the club and my signature in the Kingdom Tower. He is a great lover of the leader and his presence will make our ambitions greater and we may aspire to achieve the Club World Cup.”

He added: “With Al-Waleed Bin Talal, the ceiling of ambitions will change from now, and the dream will sometimes come true, and I challenge everyone that this step will bring about a major shift with Al-Hilal.”

As sports journalist Muqbil bin Juday said in television statements: “Al-Hilal, with the mentality of Prince Al-Waleed bin Talal, will go to greater heights, especially on the commercial level. The club has invested its assets correctly, and the partnerships will be greater and influential, in addition to the championships that the team competes in.”

He added: “Al-Waleed bin Talal previously stated in a television interview that his goal is to win the elite AFC Champions League, then win the Club World Cup, which confirms that he has a clear thought and knows well where he wants to reach and how to invest his money.”

Al Hilal Club, which is based in the capital, Riyadh, is one of the oldest and largest football clubs in Saudi Arabia, having won many local and continental titles. It is also one of the four clubs in which the Public Investment Fund has a share of ownership.
