The auction began a few days ago at a modest base price, but it took off at a rapid pace, with an increase of one million pounds in just 24 hours, making the metal plate “N-4” a candidate to enter the list of the most expensive plates in 2025.

According to official statistics, auctions this year have generated revenues of 80 million pounds so far, with a daily turnout exceeding 500 bids on a variety of plates, from recurring numbers like “4444” to words like “Ward 1.”
The bidding process for distinctive metal plates for cars in Egypt began in 2016, as part of the initiative of the General Traffic Department of the Ministry of Interior, with the aim of organizing the issuance of these plates and transferring the proceeds to the “Long Live Egypt” Fund to support development and charitable projects, such as building schools and hospitals in rural areas.
Until November 2025, these auctions achieved revenues exceeding 500 million Egyptian pounds (according to official data from the Egypt Traffic Portal), with auctions being conducted electronically, allowing any citizen to register and bid easily, and each auction lasts for specific days during which the bidding ends and the winner is determined.
