A statement issued by the service said: “The United Wildberries Company launched a test to deliver goods using drones, with the support of the St. Petersburg Transport Committee and the Russian Federal Center for Unmanned Aircraft Systems. The modern logistics complex in the Shushary area on the outskirts of Petersburg was chosen to test this service, and the goods were transported from the warehouse to the company’s delivery points in that area.”

The company explained that the test flight was conducted using certified local drones, as the drone performed a flight on a complex logistical route with multiple landing points: it delivered the goods sequentially from the Wildberries sorting center in Shushary to the company’s receiving point on Bolivaya Street, and then returned to the warehouse.

For his part, the head of the development department at Wildberries’ delivery center in the Shushary region, Maxim Kim, said: “We are constantly working to make the process of delivering goods to our customers as fast and convenient as possible, and accelerating the delivery of goods using drones is one of the methods that we test and believe in, especially in hard-to-reach areas.”

It should be noted that the Russian Post had begun testing the service of delivering goods using drones since the beginning of this year as well, with support from the Russian Ministry of Economic Development.
