uaetodaynews.com — Russia launches new satellites to monitor Earth and celestial bodies

The corporation said in a statement: “Preparations have begun at the Russian Vostochny Space Airport to launch the new Russian Aist-2T satellites dedicated to remote sensing of the Earth, and specialists at the airport have begun preparing the upper stage (Fregat) of the rocket that will carry these satellites into orbit.”

The statement added: “The Fregat stage is currently being tested, its insulation capabilities are being verified, and all its components are working. After the tests are completed, it will be supplied with fuel and compressed gases in preparation for launching it with the satellites into space.”

Roscosmos indicated last December that it plans to launch at least 12 satellites in 2025, including two of the Aist-2T type, dedicated to remote sensing of the Earth.

Russia currently has several Aist satellites designated for remote sensing of the Earth, including Aist-2D satellites, but the new Aist-2T satellites were designed to be able to monitor the Earth and draw three-dimensional maps of its surface. They also obtained cameras and sensors developed in a special way to be able to monitor the Earth, the Moon, and celestial bodies.
